Words of Welcome

“Him [Jesus] we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom,
that we may present everyone mature in Christ.” Colossians 1:28

After having served at Mt. Olive for more than 20 years, Pastor Sizemore accepted a call to his home church near Daytona Beach, Florida, beginning October 2018. Although we will miss him, we are trusting in the Lord’s guidance for our future.

During the interim period Mt. Olive has continued its worship services, ministries, and welcoming guests. And in God’s timing, the person ordained by God to become our next leader, Pastor Walter Harper has been called! Our congregation is praying that the Holy Spirit will guide our church leadership’s discernment as we eagerly await the arrival of Pastor Walt and Renee.

Mt. Olive is grateful to have had as our vacancy, or interim, Pastor Carl Voges. He has faithfully served and nurtured our congregation during the transition period. He has kept the spirit of John the Baptist, an excellent biblical model of an interim pastor.  Just like John, he has helped us “prepare the way” for the one who is to follow. Pastor Voges is pleased to have been called as Mt. Olive’s interim and is gracefully “decreasing” with Pastor Harper’s arrival in late October.

Through October 2019, Pastor Voges will continue to proclaim Christ and Him crucified and to faithfully bring the Word and Sacraments. He will be preaching and teaching the biblical principles that will strengthen the church, shepherding, and providing spiritual care of our congregation.

Pastor Harper’s installation will be held on Reformation Sunday afternoon, October 27th at 5:00 PM.
